Job Description

The City of Mt. Vernon Parks Department is accepting applications for a Parks and Recreation Program Assistant.

Qualifications

Candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting with organizing and implementing a variety of recreational programs and events, including athletics, community programs, and fitness/wellness. This position will provide supervision, ensure safety, and enforce program rules. Ability to work independently and perform physical tasks. Offer exceptional customer service to patrons. Assist with activity setup, break-down, and equipment management. Must have good organizational skills and be able to multi-task. Educational experience includes a high school diploma or GED, and at least 1 year of experience in customer service or event coordination. Applicants must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License. T

Salary & Benefits

his Part-Time position will require a flexible schedule, Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. Pay will be $16.00 per hour, with Paid leave for all Part- Time and Seasonal Employees. Residency within Jefferson County, Illinois is required after 6 months of employment.
